To celebrate 20 fantastic years of the BMW Safari, BMW Motorrad Australia has chosen the island state of Tasmania as the perfect place to have both the TS (on road) and GS (on/off-road) Safaris in November – and international BMW riders are invited to come along for the ride...In 1994 the inaugural Australian BMW Safari was held, a unique BMW ride event that took riders for a week’s riding on some of the best roads in the country. It was a resounding success and in the subsequent years BMW Safari has grown in importance and has diversified into the ‘TS’ and ‘GS’ Safaris, and recently the Safari Enduro was also added to the programme, for experienced off-road enthusiasts looking to step up their riding to the next level.But the formula remains the same, whatever the type of safari chosen: a week’s riding in great company of other BMW Motorrad enthusiasts, riding on roads less travelled, staying in unique locations and sampling local culture, history and cuisine. The recipe of BMW Safari has certainly proved itself over the last two decades.Tasmania is blessed with stunning twisty roads and tracks, with breathtaking scenery around every bend. The 2014 edition will be a Safari to engage all the senses from behind the ‘bars, and at the end of the day sample some of the world’s freshest tasty food and beverages.“Over the past 20 years, the BMW Safari in both TS and GS forms has become a ‘must-do’ event for BMW Motorrad enthusiasts. To celebrate the occasion we are inviting BMW riders from around the world to join us on this amazing adventure. The grand Twentieth Anniversary dinner will be held between the events so both TS and GS Safari riders can be there.Riders joining the Safari from around the world can ship their bikes to Australia or hire a BMW for the Safari.
